Angus breeder who felt discriminating consumers should be provided
an opportunity to obtain consistently excellent beef. It is the
belief of PGAB that over approximately the past ten years consumer
options have become more and more limited to commodity products.
Quality has been further compromised by overreaction to some requests
for leaner beef at the expense of full flavor, tenderness, and
consistency. The primary goal of Premium Gold is to offer
consumers branded beef which can be trusted to provide superior
taste and tenderness every time. This consistency is achieved
in a number of ways.
ANGUS
CATTLE

Angus
cattle are known for their propensity
to produce tender, flavorful beef. There is not another
breed of cattle in the world that can provide such excellent taste
at an affordable price. Furthermore, Angus is now recognized
by a tremendous number of consumers as the best beef available.
All
PGA cattle are individually and numerically identified prior to
slaughter. A representative of the United States Department
of Agriculture then inspects each individual to insure compliance
with "PQC" live animal specifications for Angus heritage.
Following documented acceptance the animal is presented for carcass
grading by the USDA, then processing. Individual carcass
characteristics are compiled by the grader and in most cases returned
to the ranch which produced the animal. This PGA service
is provided to participating producers in order to assist them
in continually upgrading their Angus herds. It is a primary
goal of PGA to work hand in hand with the finest Angus breeders
in producing only the best of the best. This ongoing working
relationship with those who actually provide the cattle is perhaps
Premium Gold's greatest asset
MARBLING
Marbling
is the fine specs of fat within the lean of beef. While
studies show that marbling does not significantly increase the
caloric count of beef, without question, it greatly enhances flavor
and tenderness. PGA is able to achieve consistently high
marbling scores through use of heavily influenced Angus guidelines
and carefully supervised corn feeding.
QUALITY
CONTROL

Premium
Gold chose from its inception to include the United States Department
of Agriculture in assisting with maintaining the highest standards
of quality checks and controls. PGA applied for and received
a "Product Quality Control" certification and manual from the
USDA. This fully voluntary program basically documents procedures
from meeting live cattle specifications to delivery of the finished
product and is subject to audit by the USDA at all times.
Some of the requirements contained in the "PQC" are as follows:
Beef
must be of "A" maturity (30 months of age or less at the time of
slaughter)
No cattle are accepted which display Brahman or Dairy
influence
Beef must be of bright red color
Quarter inch trim is available at the customers request
TWO
PGA BRANDS

PGA
is proud to offer for the most discriminating its Platinum label.
The
cattle selected for this prestige label must grade "modest" marbling
or higher. There is simply no finer beef to be found.
Those
high quality Angus which fall below "modest" marbling but still
meet PGA's high standards of excellence are labeled "Blue Ribbon".
Specifications for acceptance into the Blue Ribbon program demand
a marbling score of upper two thirds select through low choice.
Whether
the choice be Platinum or Blue Ribbon, customer satisfaction is
an absolute certainty.

Gold Angus is an exclusive Angus Brand that redefines the meaning
of consistency. That's consistency from the start. All cattle

WHO
NEEDS PGA?
Only
those supermarkets and food service distributors who want to serve
the highest quality beef available should apply for a PGA license.
PGA will be awarding exclusive territorial licensing agreements
to applicants in the US and International markets. It is
the strategy of PGA to provide one retail supermarket chain and
one food service distributor in a single geographical area with
exclusive rights to market PGA. PGA will allow supermarkets
and restaurants to provide the ultimate experience in beef taste.
